Snow on its way
It was warm today which means we have weather on its way here in the form of snow. Most of the leaves on the trees in the canyon where I live have fallen off the trees but in town there are still trees loaded with leaves. There are people in town with their Christmas lights already up. Guess I know what I will be doing this week end.

This is a great group of people that make afghans for the needy, dolls with outfits for Children's Services, Chemo hats, slippers and prayer shawls. Thank you for helping so many.

State Champs!

"What judge could resist these smiles? Apparently none. The White Pine High School Cheerleaders and the Bobkettes dance team are the Division 1A and 2A Silver State Spirit Champs." I work with their coach, Tammy Moore, and she and the community are very proud of the great job these girls have done. Way to go!!!

Food Drive for WPC
For the past 4 years the local grocery store has held a food drive that begins November first and continues into January. It started with one store that at that time was named Gorman's and was recently purchased by the Ridley's chain who continued the tradition. This tradition was started by a cashier Sandra Coombs in Gorman's Market is now used in the Ridley's chain in 4 states. What they do is take groceries and canned goods and place them in paper bags that are decorated like a gift and the words Buy me for $5 on the bag. They are located by the check out stands to grab on your way to check out and just pay $5 for the bag of groceries. The bag is them placed in a bin before you leave the store. All the bags purchased go to the local food banks in that area. It has become a tradition with me and my grand kids to go to the store and each child picks out the bag they want to buy and we all go and pay our own $5 per bag. They then get to place the bag in the bin knowing where the food will go to and that someone will have food to eat because they did this. Sometimes we go back more than once. I try to buy one at least once a week or more. There were times in my past where I received help with food and it feels good to help someone else out like someone helped me.

Even More Deer
More Deer

The deer are still coming back. There are 2 bucks and 7 does/fawns. Last Friday evening at about 7 p.m. all 9 were in my back yard munching on apples and sleeping under the trees. I really need to get a camera that can take pictures in the evening or dark without just giving me circles for the eyes. Last weekend my neighbor got a great photo of one of the bucks as he was going back uphill from his yard to the mountain. Isn't he beautiful!!!
Just a few minutes ago I was pulling into my driveway and saw the 2 bucks and one doe. I was able to get a few pics snapped off as it is still fairly light but my camera still has issues.
Here are the two bucks.

And here is the doe.

Can't wait to see them again.

Deer in the day time
Got home from work and heard a sound. Turned around and there were 6 head of deer across the street looking at me. A 2 point buck and the rest were does. This same herd usually heads to my back yard to munch on whatever they want at about 7-8 p.m. Here is a clip of them across the street at 5:20 p.m. I have a few other clips but it takes a while to post this to youtube. This at least shows 2 of the deer. They come off the mountain behind my neighbors house, munch on a few apples and then head to my house to eat some flowers I think are weeds-lol, go to the park, across the highway and up into the mountain on the other side of my valley. Scenes like this are why I love living here and not in a big city. When the snow gets real deep the mountain lion come down and sleep in the park below my house.
